MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Outreach Worker directs outreach efforts in the targeted population and community. Candidates need to have a working knowledge of street-level conflicts in and around the target communities and a passion for solving potentially violent situations with nonviolent solutions.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conduct street outreach in the target community to prevent violent crime and interrupt potential violence.
2. Work with local police officers to maintain safe environments in the target community and coordinate outreach violence prevention efforts.
3. Provide case management services and linkage to collaborating agencies.
4. Implement resources of existing violence prevention models including program interventions and activities according to high-risk populations.
5. Provide priority to the population and intervention strategies that are culturally and linguistically appropriate.
6. Ensures client files program reports and data are maintained and updated.
7. Participate in the Violence Prevention Coordinating Council and Outreach services.
8. Be trained and knowledgeable in the neighborhood violence prevention model.
9. It must be reflective of the target population.
10. Maintain a nonviolent lifestyle.
11. Crisis response may prompt an irregular work scheduleOn-call 24/7 for violence-related incidents.
12. Provide support overall problem-solving assistance and advocacy on behalf of clients
13. Provide one-to-one advocacy mentoring and engagement of the targeted population.
14. Rotating schedule to include weekends and/or nights
15. Maintain high-quality communication with the management of the Street Worker Program.
16. Any other assigned responsibilities deemed by the Outreach Supervisor and Project Director to benefit program success.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• High School diploma or GED and/or relevant experience in and knowledge of the target population.
• Experience working with Proven/High risk population
• Ability to work on a diverse team
• Conflict resolution skills
• Must be willing to consider alternative problem-solving techniques
• Willingness to work on the street and in other unstructured situations
• Possess time management skills
• Communication skills both written and verbal

Requirements

• A Valid Drivers License and Insured Vehicle.
• PPD (TB test required with proof of results; no more than 1 year old)

$54000.00 per year
